In this segment, veterinarian Han Jae-Woong relives the memory of visiting a dog farm in Yeoju, South Korea in 2017, when he accompanied the Korea Animal Welfare Association(KAWA). As someone who has dedicated his life to caring for animals, he could barely believe the scene he had walked into: dogs who had starved and frozen to death. The dog farm owner admitted that he had not fed the dogs in two months. The sixteen dogs who survived were found clinging to life and removed by KAWA. Click HERE to see the dogs rescued by KAWA. Nearly all had heartworm and were grossly malnourished. They were treated for heartworms but sadly two of the dogs did not survive. Some of those miracle survivors eventually recovered and even flown abroad to their forever homes.
There are countless hellscapes like this one all over South Korea, where dogs never experience a kind hand, abused from the time they are born to the moment they die. No sentient beings, let alone animals bred to be human companions, should be treated this way. Our work will not stop until South Korea ends the horror show of its dog meat trade.
