On 17th July, KARA rescued all 31 dogs that were waiting to be slaughtered at the slaughterhouse in Singok-dong, Uijeongbu. This slaughterhouse has been purchasing and slaughtering a number of dogs at the Paju auction house for some time. But, on the 19th of July, unfortunately, three dogs (including Danchu and Seolhee) were diagnosed with canine distemper. Quarantine treatment, coupled with endless disinfection procedures, diagnostic testing and fluid treatment were provided. However, Danchu and Seolhee died on the 21st of July, sadly just four days after they were rescued.

With no time to grieve, more dogs were diagnosed with canine distemper: Baduk on 20th July, Mindeulae on 21st of July, Rone on 29th of July, and Goodee on 3rd of August . We immediately took all possible measures to save these dogs, including providing intensive medical treatments and ensuring that each dog had access to nutritious food supported by KK0R. As a result, fortunately, these dogs are improving. Goodee, however, was hospitalized today. The rest (a total of 16 dogs) have recovered their health and have been well enough to finish their spay/neuter surgery, required vaccinations, and various health tests.

KARA promised to ensure that these rescued dogs are safe and happy from now on. We will keep this promise even if it takes a long time.

A mother dog who just gave birth, a dog who had been sold to the slaughterhouse in her last month of pregnancy, the old white dogs who would have been loyal to their owners all their lives, and the dog that hid because it was so scared, all survived these difficult times! All thanks to the support of the volunteers, members and citizens who cared for them, worried about them, and helped them, we were able to spend today without losing any more.

Please bless the rescue dogs’ future.
